Tiny toes are always a favorite capture during our custom styled newborn photo shoots. Below are a few tips to consider when selecting a newborn photographer:
1) Schedule early - Most of our moms schedule their custom styled newborn photo shoots at the beginning of their 2nd trimester. Why so early? Our newborn photo shoots are 2-4 hours in duration and we only schedule ONE newborn per day. There is a lot of considerations when scheduling newbron photo shoots, since we only have a due date, not an actual arrival date. Thus, we have to allow timing in our schedule prior to and after due dates, which makes scheduling a little challenging. The way we handle this is to LIMIT the number of due dates we take during each week and month. This allows us to ensure time on our calendar to fit in your newborn portrait session during that first week after baby’s birth.
2) Timing is important - We schedule our newbron photo shoots during baby’s first week. This allows us the best opportunity to capture sleepy, cuddly moments of your newborn. As baby gets older, he will want to stay awake more often, for longer periods of time. In addition, he will begin to stretch out more and become more wiggly in general. So it s so important to schedule your newborn portrait session BEFORE baby arrives. This allows us to place you on the calendar in the midst of that ever important first week.
3) Shopping - We all shop around when looking for products or services. However, newborn portrait photography is a bit different. There are so many photographers around, but you’ll want to select one who specializes in newborns. We have been photographing babies since 2010, and that experience makes a huge difference. That brings me to my nest point - experience. Experience is so important, especially with newborns. Newborn photography is in an arena all it’s own. From the studio set up, the wraps, props, poses, lighting, etc …. everything is customized in our studio to ensure beautiful newborn portraits. And then there is style … we are known for our natural, organic style of photographing newborns. Every photographer has her own style, and you should hire a photographer whose style you LOVE. These newborn portraits will be part of your story into motherhood … they deserve to be all you desire them to be.
4) Beyond newborn days - Moms always inquire about newbron portraits, but did you baby’s first year is full of milestones and developments? This first year of baby’s growth is huge, major accomplishments occur such as sitting, standing, and walking. This time is so important and every discovery during baby’s first year is a treasure. Allow yourself the opportunity to watch baby grow with milestone portrait sessions. They capture baby’s blooming personality and milestones throughout the year. Sitting sessions typically occur around 6 months of age, standing sessions around 9 months and first birthday portraits followed by a fun cake smash to make the most of the moment!
