Hi friends!
It has been a busy week ... I wish I could say it was all the good kind of busy - some of the week definitely was just that, beautiful babies in the studio - cake smash photo shoots, family and baby outdoor portrait sessions but by mid-week things went a little off the charts at Melissa Treen Photography and we are still trying to recover.
I have learned over the past almost 9 years that business, like life, has ups and downs -
valleys and mountains.
We were on the top of a mountain for a very short time while celebrating the lease we signed on our new commercial portrait studio space at the beginning of June.
Little did we know what was coming (so quickly) on the other side of that mountain - until Wednesday.
The thing about being on top of mountains is that there is only one direction to go once you're at the peek ...
Wednesday I woke up, began checking emails and noticed things were rather quiet -- I normally have a ton of emails overnight and start responding to them bright and early each morning. Wednesday there were no emails ... this was a red flag that something was amiss.
Soon I realize the website and blog I have had since 2010 were unaccessible. I contacted my website host provider and learned the dreaded news - there was a fatal server crash.
This is catastrophic friends - I can not even begin to explain what all this means and how it will impact our small business.
What this technically means - I am still trying to wrap my brain around all that - but I can say it doesn't sounds good - from what little they have told me at my hosting site - all seems lost. All - almost 9 years of business gone - in an instant.
I am not alone, I was told the numbers of affected by this server crash is over a thousand. So here we are trying to figure out what steps to take to rectify something completely out of our control. We are working on a new website - when that will happen is up to the mercy of the repair process. So, we wait...
Until then, and thankfully, we are utilizing this website. I am ever so grateful I pushed myself to design a new website last year - this website. I thought it was a bit redundant to keep the old and the new, but the old server it's purpose in a few very vital and important areas and this new one was designed to showcase our work in a more modern, pretty way. Now, it is our primary website.
Clients and friends - if you have visited our old website and seem strange messages, it is due to this server crash.
If you have tried emailing us or contacting us and you haven't heard back, it is most likely due to this server crash issue. Please utilize our new website contact form or email us directly at:
Please do consider referring us to your friends ... we are accepting new clients and would love to capture memories and milestones for you all!
